My little boy just turned 10 yesterday… October 31, 2007. Boy is he BIG already… he’s finally grown out of playing with swing sets and rattles! Growing up to be a handsome attractive man… like “ahem”… moi! LOL!
I took him out to have a good time together with my parents and my little girl, Isabella. Too bad my wife wasn’t able to join us since she’s still in Baguio working… but that’s life, I guess… besides, I’m pretty sure my wife will make it up to our kid as soon as she comes back down.
So, this post is dedicated to my little big boy… the “man of the house” whenever I’m out… my little Isabella’s big protective and sentimental kuya.
I made a small video of Ralph taken a few months back when we decided to interview him in front of the camera. I never really got around to editing it and as I was going through my files looking for a nice photo to post that’ll go well with this birthday greeting, I saw the raw unedited video of his interview… so I added a music bed and minimally edited the clip just to shorten it and cut out the boring in-between lull moments.
So, I shall end this post with a birthday message to my son followed by the cute video clip for everyone to enjoy…
Ralph,
I want you to know that as much as you are still a little boy, you are also halfway to being a grown man… and with each passing year, more is expected of you… may you enjoy this wonderful day… revel and frolic… though never forgetting what is asked of you… decent grades and an admirable, upstanding character.
Remember that your mom and I love you very much… we strive hard to be able to provide the things you need… the basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing… as well as a few indulgences that we give freely to you out of our unconditional love.
But other than that of material things which are only but temporary, may you never forget nor take for granted the more important gifts we constantly bestow upon you… good education and proper upbringing, as well as instilling into your heart the value of a strong religious faith which shall help you weather and overcome any struggle that may come your way, long after dad and mom have gone.
These gifts, you can never put a price tag on… but it’s value, you shall eventually realize to be immeasurable, as you grow.
Happy birthday to you, my little buddy…
I shall strive hard everyday to be the type of role model you look up to. Though at times we don’t see eye to eye… and every now and then, I get upset at you… in no way shall these things ever lessen my love for you. I am proud of you… always have been… always will be.
As long as I live, I shall always be here to fight tooth and nail, to offer my blood, sweat and tears, my whole being… for you.
You are my son… my only son… my love for you will outlive the both of us… that I promise you.
