Oh Filipinos! When will you ever learn? I frown upon Pinoys who have no sense of discipline or at least some high regard to tenets and regulations wherever they go… and though you may not be among those I am ranting about… you probably know as well, how many “would-be” nationalistic and proud Pinoys do a disservice to our name and ruin our reputation as a people.
You need not look very far to see these type of individuals…
I was doing some last minute grocery chores with my wife earlier today at Cherry Foodarama and as expected there were lots of people doing the same thing. The place was packed! Even the hardware and bathroom faucets section were jammed with people! And since all cashiers were packed to the brim with customers checking out, the establishment’s management dedicated one particular cashier strictly for senior citizens only. I happened to be at the cashier right beside this specially designated area.
And as expected, there were sadly a good number of our opportunistic “kababayans” lined up who were still decades away from becoming senior citizens. Such a disgrace. And the lady tending to that cashier didn’t even speak up. My wife approached the lady and asked her, “Hindi ba pang senior citizen lang ang pila dyan? Eh bakit ang daming nakapila na hindi matatanda?”… the lady just smiled (or smirked) and went about her business.
Oh, Pinoys! If we cannot follow even the simplest and easiest of rules… what’s to become of us?

Tsk, tsk. A fairly common sight, actually, even during non-holiday times. One need only ride the MRT and then observe how people get inside the train. No discipline at all.

True. Too common that people should be alarmed. Bring pinoys to other countries and they abide by their rules… but take them back to the Philippines and they totally disrespect our own regulations.
What’s up with that?!

I thought they looked good for their age..
In the Uk, some selfish drivers park their cars in the designated space for
people with disability just because they can’t be bothered to walk a few
extra meters with their shopping… Human nature at its worst, I’m afraid.

it seems we pinoys really only pay lip-service to such “inconveniences” as rules, procedures, policies and laws… sabi nga nila, the philippines has some pf the best laws… unfortunately, the implementation of these laws SUCK! (think: a guy pissing in front of a “bawal umihi dito” sign or a woman throwing garbage beneath a “bawal magtapon ng basura dito” warning…. haaays)

i wont accept this as a part of human nature; this behavior is simply made out of arrogance and uneducation. nakakainis yang mga ganyan. i am glad your wife said something. kung ako yan puntahan ko talaga yung management ang balk and even talk to those guys in that line. hmmmp. konting antay lang, e pare pareho namang nakapila tapos gusto pa nilang lumusot. at that cashier doesnt help at all, yan ang isang pinoy na pinoy na ugali na hindi ko gusto talaga e ‘walang paki’ e sya dapat ang unang mag promote nung rules dahil nga para sa mga matatanda yon ano, hindi para sa mga pasaway, hmp ulit.

…and I noticed the other implications of the sign. Aside from being a senior citizen, one needs to have a PO booklet and OSCA ID. The people in line probably don’t have those. The store should not be setting that kind of policy if they would not be able to follow it. tsk tsk.

And Pinoys talk of themselves as being nationalistic, courteous, and considerate…
Oh well… actions speak louder than words.
