ArmageddonIt’s been ages since I watched “Armageddon” that I can’t even remember when it first came out. All I remember is that I saw the film at SM Megamall with my family. SM Megamall! Can you believe that?! I never watch movies at Megamall anymore…  Remember, SM Megamall…?!  The cinema with sticky floors and unkempt seats with upholstery that pleads to be run over by Sebo vacuums?

This was even before the Promenade was built and waaay before (the new) Greenhills Theater was renovated.

Why am I saying this, you ask? Well… I my kid, who wasn’t feeling too good, asked me if he could watch something before going to bed… and I rummaged through my small bundle of original (meaning “unpirated”) DVDs and chose this movie to watch.

As he intently viewed the flick, I watched along since I didn’t have anything else to do. And by golly, I enjoyed the film so much that I actually finished it and realized that my kid had fallen asleep three-fourths past the movie. I loved the theme song (”I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”) performed by Aerosmith.

Just wonderful! It gave me thrills and chills all over again. What a great “feel-good-ish” (and sort of melancholic) ending…

Normally, when I see a particular movie in the theaters already, I don’t get the urge to buy it on DVD anymore… even if that motion picture had really good production values.

But this evening… as I watched “Armageddon” again after a long long time… it reminded me of why DVDs, especially those I have greatly enjoyed in theaters, are such good investments!

They are a big investment. A new DVD here is about $35 especially when it is a new release, so you’ll really ‘treasure’ it! ;) Regards mate!

I was in university when these doomsday films came out. I liked Armageddon and that other film with Tea Leoni. As cheesy as they may be, they do make you value your life, loved ones, and our planet in general.

i could stay awake just to hear you breathing. wee.. ang cheesy. ha haha!

The cinematic experience in the UK pales in comparison to that of Manila. This is why I limit going to the theatre here because it’s not as enjoyable. The DVD’s I get these days are presents from friends and family. However, I do remember treating myself to a complete set of a girlie sitcom :D

There was a time when I preferred to download torrents rather than purchasing DVDs. You know, now I consider them a crime. I have lots of dvds at home and purchase many every week. It is just like having a good library of books at home.
